Donate Blood in Honor of
Lucas Prado
Lucas has a rare genetic blood disorder called Beta Thalassemia, which is also know has “Cooley’s Anemia.” This disorder means Lucas’s body cannot make enough healthy red blood cells on its own. Since he was diagnosed at age of 15 months, Lucas requires blood transfusions every two weeks.
The United Way is dedicating this blood drive to Lucas and to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center Hematology Unit for providing life-saving treatments to kids like Lucas.
